Prince, the Clash, Frankie Beverely, Taj Mahal, and Frankie Valli will all be honored by the Recording Academy with Lifetime Achievement Awards during a ceremony the day before the 2025 Grammy Awards. The honors will be presented during the Special Merit Awards Ceremony, which will take place at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles on February 1, 2025. Prince previously earned a total of 32 Grammy nominations over the course of his illustrious lifetime, ultimately winning seven Grammys, including Best Rock Performance for “Purple Rain” in 1985. The legendary London punk group the Clash only received only one Grammy nomination during their celebrated career, winning Best Long Form Music Video for the 2000 documentary film, The Clash: Westway to the World. The 2025 Grammy Awards ceremony is set to take place on Sunday, February 2nd at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. (Consequence of Sound)
