Jay Jackson has worked in news broadcasting since 2002. He started out as the host of the midday show on The Pulse 99.9 FM in Arkadelphia, and moved up to host his own morning show in fall 2003.
After graduating with a Mass Communications degree from Henderson State, he worked as a camera operator and graphics technician for KATV Channel 7 in Little Rock. Jay went on to work as a web producer for KTHV Channel 11. In 2011, Jay began anchoring for the Arkansas Radio Network, filling in for Andy Pearson on “First News with Bob Steel” on 102.9 FM. He then began filling in for John Payne on Power 92, becoming a permanent cast member in February 2013.
An accomplished musician, Jay has played piano since age nine. He got his start singing in church in his hometown of Pine Bluff, developing his musical career when he returned to Little Rock. He’s played several local bands, including “The Keystone Kings” and “The Jay Jackson Band.” In addition to piano, Jay plays drums, bass and guitar.
Jay enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2006, and currently serves in the Arkansas National Guard.
