Evangeline Parker is no stranger to hard work and community service. She is an award winning community servant, television and radio personality and a mentor to many young females across the nation.
February 2009, Evangeline received the Arkansas Democratic Black Caucus President’s Award for her community service work specifically with her Teen Promise program. July 2008, Evangeline was awarded a KARK Channel 4 Community Service Award for her community service work with her Teen Promise Female Preparatory & Scholarship program. April 2008, Evangeline was selected the KATV-Channel 7 ‘Arkansan of the Week.’ÂÂ October 2007, Evangeline was selected the KARK Channel 4 Volunteer of the Month.
Evangeline is the founder and executive director of the Miss Teen Promise Female Preparatory & Scholarship program that over the past 11 years has provided life skills training to over 250 Arkansas females between the age of 6 and 18 and awarded them more than $62,000 in scholarships and prizes. Teen Promise programs have assisted young females in developing the promise within and becoming award winning teachers, academic achievers and successful women and leaders within their communities.
Evangeline is the public affairs coordinator for Comcast Cable and host of the award winning Comcast Newsmakers community news television program. In 2008, Evangeline assisted approximately 46 community organizations in promoting their programs on Comcast Newsmakers. She also assisted over 35 organizations in promoting their programs on Comcast Channel 18 Community Affairs talk shows and the Channel 18 Community Calendar.
Believing that a good dose of laughter and enlightening conversation generates healing power, Evangeline is a member of the ‘Broadway Joe Morning Show’ÂÂ team on Power 92.3 FM, she is affectionately known to radio listeners as Miss Parker. Listeners have described her as inspirational, comedic and a savvy conversationalist as she delivers the entertainment news and co-produce the thought-provoking and always exciting ‘Power People Poll’ÂÂ segment with Broadway Joe Booker.
Evangeline is a member of St. Mark Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, where Phillip L. Pointer is the pastor. She serves her church as a Sunday school teacher for the Master Life Sunday School program.
Evangeline’s mission in life is to be a vessel for Christ spreading the word of God in word and song! Her philosophy of life is ‘It is God who works in me to will and to act according to his good purpose.’ – Philippians 2:13.
