Idris Turner / Tha Skirt Wit Tha Dirt |
Idris Turner has a natural, relatable and friendly personality. She started her radio career from a contest Power 92.3fm the #1 station in her city held. Idris was selected out of dozens of entries to display her talent to the Power listeners. She was the 5th contestant and on her first audition night she came in and took the #1 spot. The rest is history.
Idris has always had a passion for music; before she started her radio career she was a well-known local artist on the Arkansas music scene by the name of Absolute. Idris still has a passion for music but her career as a radio personality came quite naturally and took over her desires to succeed in the music industry. Idris had fun starting off in radio industry, entertaining her peer’s weekly coordinating/hosting events at local clubs. Life was not all about the next party with Idris, she was a daily mentor to AT RISK YOUTH for a couple of years before her site was closed in East Little Rock. She loved inspiring her youth to believe that they can achieve anything they set their minds to despite their environment. A message that she constantly taught them was your mind set will determine your future. Idris is all about maintaining a positive mental attitude.
Unfortunately after a few years of entertaining Idris felt that she needed to venture out and take advantage of other career opportunities. Shortly after her stint with Power 92.3fm she began working for a Future 500 company Fidelity Information Services. She started off as an entry level rep in customer service, her job performance was exceptional and she was promoted within two months of her employment to a specialty department and then four months later with no prior experience she was promoted to supervisor. She was a natural in here role as supervisor she loved the responsibilities. Idris was responsible for career coaching, monthly meetings with her team and fellow mangers. She took a lot of pride in the success of her team; she was passionate about wanting them to succeed. Yet there was still something in her heart that made her keep in touch with her former mentor Broadway Joe.
Idris still felt a burning desire to be behind the microphone again after serving a couple of years at Fidelity so the opportunity came around again. And she jumped at the opportunity to come in as Broadway Joe’s assistant. A job that is far from glamorous but she was up for the challenge. Idris knew that she would have to wait for an on-air position to open up and she was willing to work hard and get reacquainted with the game. She finally got her chance when the 10p-2a slot opened up for her to host the “Wreck Shop” an all rap show on Friday nights. It was not the primetime slot she was used to but all she needed was one mic to prove that she still had what it takes to entertain her audience. Slowly she proved that her swag had improved and she was invited to the Broadway Joe Morning show on Friday and Saturday to give the celebrity gossip, she was given the name Tha Skirt Wit tha Dirt by Broadway Joe and it was the perfect fit for her personality. Soon another time slot opened up on Saturday from 9a-2p and she was put into that position. Now Idris feels like she is getting back into the groove dominating the weekend with three shows Idris has become one of Power 92.3’s favorite personalities and she is determined to improve her craft even more. She loves production and she takes pride in every spot that she produces for advertisers. Always willing to learn Idris is hungry and willing to assist her peers. She has dreams of becoming a nationally syndicated personality. Idris also enjoys hosting shows/parties in here city she is currently booking dates and most recently she has been approached by local boutiques to model as a spokeswoman. Idris has never considered herself a model but she is up to the challenge as long as it is positive exposure for her long-term radio career goals.
